Impact on Health PDF Print E-mail
health_care_shieldThe departure of health professionals has eroded the ability of medical and social services in several Sub-Saharan countries to deliver even basic health and social needs. Thirty-eight of the 47 Sub-Saharan African countries fall short of the minimum standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO) to ensure basic health care services is 20 physicians per 100,000 people. 38 countries in Sub-Sahara Africa fall short, and 13 of these only have 5 or fewer, e.g. in Malawi there is only 2.2 doctors to every 100,000 people.
